About The Artist

Hello, hello! My name is Bre, I live in Colorado, US, I'm 20 (21 in December!) and I work in retail hell. Target, to be more accurate, as a team lead. I'm going back to school next year for English. I wear contacts, hate my glasses, love jeans and the color red, and I have five tattoos. I'm a nerd to the extreme of extremes, all the fandom I participate in are very close to my heart (I got Angel's tattoo on my shoulder and the claddagh symbol on the back of my neck, come on!), they've been there for me in extreme situations, if that doesn't sound lame.

When I'm not at work, pretending to exercise or at my best friend's house (or coffee with Joe), I'm reading fanfiction and making fanart. I've been writing fanfiction since before 2004, and making art since 2005. I'm always listening to music, it's the currency of life for me, I'm obsessed with anything and everything, and it guides most, if not all, of my art and ideas behind them, so when I'm babbling on about fanmixes and Apocalyptica and Chopin and Kate Havnevik, it's only because when I find something I like, I LIKE it. Obsess. Example, Twilight.

I think that's all (pffft). Most of the work I've been doing for the last 4-5 years can be seen on my website, Primordial Souls. Mostly my art and fanfiction, but I'm gradually making myself make a more resourceful site for artists. If you have any suggestions for tutorials and/or resources that you've seen through my art, please let me know!

Artists hints and tips

Experimentation is the best thing ever. The only thing I'll ever say every single time is experiment with your art programs, because when you know your tools and what you have available to you, you understand what you're making all the better. Remember that tutorials are just guides, they aren't meant to be followed step-for-step. Be a rebel and make that tutorial your bitch.

Find your style! Everyone has a style, even if they don't know it, that little thing that when you see something of theirs, you go, hey! I know that person! It sets you apart and gives you a foundation.

Text is important. White text is bad, most of the time.

I hate getting negative feedback, but it's helped me become what I am today, and it's still nice getting honesty from people. Hence, give good feedback. There's always something to improve on, always - don't let anyone tell you different - and it's called constructive feedback.

Don't let fanart rule you! Don't post it for gratification, post it because you're expressing your fandom love, and don't let anyone tell you that you suck at what you do, because they suck for saying that and it's likely they don't understand a darn thing about the work you've put into it.
