About The Artist

What's happenin' guys?! My name's Lyri, I'm 23 years old, from Belfast Northern Ireland.

I'm probably relatively new to the fanart community, my website, Seeing Red, has been open for about a year, and it's getting pretty busy over there, lol! I've been making fanart for almost three years now, and I still have so much to learn, but maybe I can help some of the new guys with what I've learned so far.

Other than fanart, I love to write, both fanfic and original stories, but lately my writings been all about Spike and Xander, for some reason, lol. I love movies, the cimema is one of my favorite things to do on a night out, followed by dinner where we can discuss the plot in detail. Music is another passion of mine, I can't go anywhere, or do anything without some music playing...life's just dull otherwise!

As for the real world, I have qualifications in Art and Design, Photography and Art History, and I'm currently planning to study web design...I might as well make a living out of this!

Artists hints and tips

Stick to your own style. Don't let people dictate to you what's good and what's not. Critisism and suggestions are all well and good, but when people tell you how to art, that's not cool.

Be polite. People spend a long, long time on their art, and for someone to come in and verbally abuse what they've made is just wrong. Try to be positive and offer advice. Not abuse.

Inspiration is everywhere. Music and Lyrics are what an artist lives for, but that's not where the inspiration ends. You can find inspiration from anywhere and everything. I've been inspired by flowers, photographs, television commercials, you name it. So keep you eyes open and look around. You'll be surprised at how many ideas you can pick up from walking down the street.
